Dolores J Hemsley It is with love and sadness that we share the passing of Dolores Jacqueline Hemsley (nee Desmond), of Mount Laurel, formerly of Moorestown, NJ on March 10, 2026. She was the daughter of Daniel J Desmond and Sarah Horan Desmond, born on November 21, 1929 at the family home in Kearny, NJ. She attended Kearny High School and was employed at the Bell Telephone Company before starting a family. She was married to Joseph Hemsley, Jr. for 46 years before his passing in 1998. After several corporate moves for RCA, Dolores and Joe landed in Moorestown in 1971 and were happy to make this their forever home. She was the mom who loved a good playground, eased transitions moving state to state, made home the place you went for that one line of advice that put the world in perspective. She enjoyed home decorating, gathering with family, a little candlelight and a nice glass of wine. In retirement, Dad teeing off across the street on Moorestown Field Club’s 13th hole was the signal for evening plans to soon begin. She had an impeccable memory for birthdates. Her address book was actually a calendar so if you didn’t know a birthdate you were out of luck. She was a quiet person with a quick wit. Her greatest joy was her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Susan Mohrfeld (Clarence), Kathleen Schafer (Karl), Joseph G. Hemsley (Molly); grandchildren Lauren Charlton (Stephen), Jonathan Mohrfeld, Carmen Schafer, Susan Long (Owen), Joseph C. Hemsley, and Nora Hemsley; great grandson Stephen Joseph Charlton; her siblings Kathleen Procacci (the late Paul), Virginia Desmond, Danette Graham (Ronald), Daniel Desmond (Debbie); and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by sisters Dorothy Desmond and Helen Scapicio (the late Rocco). Our family will be forever grateful for the truly joyful and inspired care our mother received at Brightview Senior Living in Mount Laurel this past two years. Funeral service Monday 10:30 am at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St. Moorestown, NJ Visitation Monday from 9:30 am to service time at the funeral home. Interment Eldridge Cemetery, Mt. Laurel, NJ. In lieu of flowers, because of her husband’s loss to cancer and her love of children, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org hoping children get well and can again go to the playground.
