Francis John Hartman October 19, 1930 – July 1, 2026 Francis John Hartman, “Frank”, age 95 of Moorestown, New Jersey died peacefully surrounded by family on July 1, 2026. Frank was born in Philadelphia in 1930 to George Hartman and Mary Reilly. He attended Roman Catholic High School, St. Joseph’s University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School all on full scholarships. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara Hartman (nee McGann), his 8 children and 23 grandchildren, Mary Cecil McDonnell (James) and their children, John McDonnell, Michael McDonnell; Bob Hartman (Sally) and their children, Jack Hartman, Robert Hartman and Anne Collins; Barbara Granese and her children, Steven Granese, Bryan Granese; Thomas Granese and Ellie Roeder; Frances Cordry (Richard) and their children, Frank Cordry and Katie Cordry; Bryan Hartman (Jean) and their children, Audrey Gentile, Joan Hartman; Bryan Hartman and Kathleen Hartman; Katie Hartman (Joe Mayne) and Katie’s children, Molly Dunbar and Riley Dunbar; Regina Leonard (Ed), and their children, Barbara Leonard, Maggie Leonard, George Leonard and Mary Leonard ; and Deirdre Hartman-Zohlman (John) and their children, Ava Zohlman and John Zohlman. He also had 8 great-grandchildren. Frank was a devout Catholic and long time parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel parish. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed dozens of trips to Europe, Australia, Asia, New Zealand, South America and Africa. His favorite destination was Ireland, which he visited more than a dozen times. Frank celebrated his 95th birthday last October by taking his children and their spouses to Paris. Most of all, Frank loved the law. It was his vocation and his avocation. Frank was a brilliant lawyer, fierce advocate and consummate professional who gave back to his profession in many ways, including his extensive involvement with professional associations from the Burlington County Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Board of Trial Advocacy, the American Bar Association and many others. Frank’s keen wit, extraordinary memory and intellectual curiosity made him a phenomenal story teller. Visitation will be on Tues. July 7, 2026 at Lewis Funeral Home, 78 East Main Street in Moorestown, New Jersey 08057 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 42 West Main Street, Moorestown, New Jersey on July 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the mass.
