James L Davis

Mr. James (Jim) Leonard Davis, 91, of Brigantine, NJ, passed on November 21, 2025. Jim was raised in Philadelphia, at Good Shepherd Parish, and graduated from West Catholic High School. After service in the U.S. Navy, Jim resided in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, proudly working as an Elevator Mechanic at the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 5. Jim was well-known in Philadelphia, working in City Hall, and making many friends. He was a long-time season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jim loved his beach home and community in Brigantine, NJ, where he enjoyed retirement. Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter, scuba diver, and “rare item” collector. He was especially fond of hunting with his longtime buddies, including Dick Ziminski. Also, Jim enjoyed buying and selling automobiles, entertaining, growing tomatoes, conversing with his bird Lola, caring for his boxer pups, feeding ducks, and watching his children and granddaughters enjoy boating, fishing, and exploring the north Brigantine Bay. Jim was the son of the late Leonard and Catherine (Walters) Davis. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosemarie T. Davis (Marchese) and their beloved son James (Jimmy) Davis. Jim is survived by daughters Donna Catone (Steve) and Denise DiGiulio (Nick); four granddaughters: Kimberly Brimmage (Mark), Dr. Marisa B. DiGiulio, Nicole M. DiGiulio, and Christina C. DiGiulio. Jim later married Nancy L. Davis (Dougherty) and was a caring step-father to her daughter, Gina Birns (Ragone), and her husband, Howard. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth C. Brown (Davis), and brother-in-law Albert Brown. And Jim was a loving uncle to their six children: Albert Brown Jr. (deceased) (Irene), Dr. Michael Brown (Patti, MD), Kathleen Doghramji (Paul, MD), Stephen Brown (MaryAnn), Marybeth McMunn (Kevin), and Susan Mauri (Wayne). Over his last few years, Jim enjoyed the friendship and care of his friend, Frank Doyle, who faithfully watched over Jim and helped Jim continue to enjoy his home in the Brigantine community. A Memorial mass in celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel,42 W. Main St., Moorestown, NJ, 08057, on April 11th 2026. Visitation with the family 9 - 10:15 am at the church Christian burial at Saint Peter Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA, planned for April 13th.
