Betty G. Buder (nee Gallagher) died peacefully on January 29, 2015 at the age of 90. Betty is survived by her husband, Spurgeon Buder of Moorestown, NJ. She is the mother of Thomas Cassidy who is married to Angela Cassidy, Donald Cassidy who is married to Judith Cassidy, and Jeanette Pitman who is married to James Pitman. She is also step-mother to Paul Buder. Her grandchildren include William Cassidy, Julie Cassidy, Meghan Cassidy, Ellen Disantis, Kyle Cassidy and Al Pitman. Her step-grandson is Jude Curren. Betty was born in Philadelphia, PA to Isabel and Arthur Gallagher. She graduated from Olney High School in Philadelphia, and Glassboro College with a B.A. in Secondary Education. She taught middle school science in the public schools in Marlton, NJ for 10 years. She married William W. Cassidy, Jr. in 1945 and raised three children with him until his death in 1978. She married Spurgeon Buder in 1981 and lived with him in Moorestown, NJ until her recent death. Betty had many friends, 3 siblings, and a large, extended family. She was a dedicated school teacher, a devoted mother and grandmother, and was very active in the congregation and committee work of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cherry Hill. She had many hobbies and interests including playing the piano and art work in many media including hand crafts. Betty and Spurgeon Buder enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, remaining active with the church including more than 34 years of involvement in many aspects of church life and work, watching films, attending live theatre, listening to music, and attending family gatherings to celebrate birthdays and holidays. A memorial church service to which all are invited will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church with a reception to follow. The Rev. Manish Mishra-Marzetti will officiate the ceremony.
