Slade , Deanna passed away peacefully on September 4, 2013 surrounded by her loving family and the wonderful staff at Thomas Jefferson Hospital. Deanna was born in Camden NJ on 12/26/1937. She met her husband, William, as a young teenager and it was a love affair that lasted 58 years. She was first and foremost a person who was devoted to her family as a wife and mother. After raising three children, she went back to school at age 36 to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Temple University. She became the Director of Medical Records at Temple University and subsequently at Pennsylvania Hospital. Her skills as an administrator helped advance the medical records profession at a time when it was entering the computer age. She cared deeply for her employees and helped to mentor several on their career paths. She became ill with liver cancer in 1993 and her career abruptly ended. She battled cancer since that time but never let this define her life. She was a dynamic and active person and she went on to become a master quilter and a member of the Lady Bugs Quilting group and Moorestown Quilting Guild. She was also a member of the Historical Society of Moorestown. She was a wonderful planner and organizer and her family enjoyed many vacations and trips with her over these years. Deanna is survived by her loving husband William, her children William (Patricia), Patricia Barbour (Jamie) and Robert (Maureen). She is also survived by seven grandchildren who she loves dearly: William (Barbara), Mollie (Andrew), Mallory, Katherine, George, Dan and John. There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Tues. 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 42 W. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. Private interment Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ. The family would like to thank all of staff at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital who provided so much love, care and support to her and her family, especially all of the wonderful nursing and support staff on the 13th floor. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in honor of the 13 floor medical/surgical staff.
