Reverend Gilbert Forrest Bennett On Oct. 19, 2014 a native of Red Bank, NJ and a veteran of W. W. II, graduated from Dickinson College in 1950, and Boston Univ. School of Theology in 1953. Appointed associate pastor near Buffalo, NY, and later as Conference Director of Youth Work in Genesee and Erie Annual Conferences of the Methodist Church. After his marriage to Joan Warenka, he became a teacher of religious studies at Pennington School for Boys. In 1959 the Bennett's were sent to the Congo- now Zaire. In 1963 they returned to the States. He became the pastor of the United Methodist Church of South Amboy, NJ, and transferred to Florence, NJ, Bordentown, NJ, and finally Berlin, NJ. Gil spent his retirement building a cabin in the Poconos. He is survived by his children Carl Bennett, Barbara Witkowski, Susan Bennett, Jane Poling, and ten grandchildren; as well as bothers Richard and Lawrence. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Joan, parents Ruth and William Bennett, and sister, Carol Trimmier. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 1st at the First United Methodist Church, 446 E. Camden Avenue in Moorestown, NJ.
