Martin Joseph Gagnon,On February 10, 2018 age 94 of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Martin was born the youngest of 9 children to Phineas and Lydia Gagnon, on the family farm in Minnesota. He enjoyed sports and drama growing up while helping work the family farm. He volunteered and served in the US Navy as a 2nd Lieutenant JG, during W.W.II, and returned home to complete his degree in Chemistry from St. Thomas University in Minnesota. Martin met his wife Carol in Chicago, Ill. where the two began their lifelong partnership. Martin and family moved to NJ in the early 1960’s, and Martin worked for over 20 years as Quality Control Specialist for the Defense Personnel Support Center (D.P.S.C.) located in South Philadelphia. Pa. He was a longtime active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorestown serving as an usher for many years and as a member of the Knights of Columbus, including serving as Grand Knight. Dear to Martin was the Right to Life Movement, where he worked tirelessly to raise funds, awareness and participated in the many marches in Washington, D.C. Martin was active in his community as a Census Taker. He was an avid bowler and golfer achieving several holes-in-one. Survived by his wife Carol (nee Hilgart), his children Maxine McCaffrey and her husband William, Mark Gagnon and his wife Kathleen, and Joseph Gagnon. Grandfather of Alexander and Austin. He is additionally survived by his sister-in-law Beatrice Gagnon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial 10:30 am Tues. Feb 20th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church,42 W. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. Viewing 9- 10 am at the Lewis Funeral Home,78 E. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. Interment Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Please no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Options for Women, 1500 N. Kings Highway, Suite 110, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 in his name, would be appreciated.
