Nancy Derlin Flanders passed away peacefully on December 2, 2018 at home with her loving husband, Philip Flanders, by her side. Nancy Derlin Flanders was born on June 28, 1925 in Moorestown only 2 blocks from her current home. She spent 91 of her 93 years living in Moorestown. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Howard Derlin, Richard Derlin and her oldest child Charlotte Anne Carver. She is survived by her husband Philip Flanders, children: Adrienne Flanders, Stephanie Sun, Melissa Flanders, Jonathan Flanders, and Ian Flanders. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Rachel Friedman, Lisa Friedman, Caitlin Carver, Jenna Flanders, Jasmine Flanders, Stephanie A Sun, Elizabeth Sun, Thomas Sun, and Natasha Sun. In addition, she is survived by 3 great grandchildren: Mason Hougland, Jax Hougland and Lexi Hougland. As a child, Nancy loved to make her own dolls and play with her older brothers. She attended Moorestown Friends School. After graduating from Moorestown Friends School, Nancy attended a secretarial program and took at job at The Saturday Evening Post. She enjoyed working in the city of Philadelphia and through a mutual friend, met her future husband. Nancy and Philip married in 1953 at Moorestown’s Trinity Church. Nancy and Philip had a long and loving marriage of over 65 years. They started married life in Philadelphia and after a year moved back to Moorestown. There they raised their 6 children. Nancy enjoyed life. She was always one to meet new people and start a conversation. While going about town doing food shopping or attending her children’s activities, Nancy was always one with a kind word. She was very involved in Moorestown activities and volunteered often at her children’s school library and at church events. She was always keen to hear what each member of the family was doing. She and Phil were always welcoming guests into their home and hosting holiday family get together. During her life, she was an active member of Trinity Church. She was member of the Altar Guild and regularly attended Thursday morning prayer group. She enjoyed playing the piano and hearing her children play. In addition, she liked to play bridge, garden, writing to friends and family, and traveling to England each year to visit a close family friend. The family spent 1964-1965 in England. Each year there after, Phil and Nancy would visit England and take one of their children along for the trip. For the past few years, Nancy was unable to go out as often as before to Church, The Pie Ladies and to visit out of state family. Nancy was fortunate to be able stay at home and get care from her loving husband, Phil and their caregiver Kwadjo. She had frequent visits from Jonathan, her eldest son, and his family and daughter Melissa. She will be deeply missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday Dec. 8th at Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 W. Main St.Moorestown, NJ 08057. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of Flowers. Memorial contributions to the Book of Remembrance care of Trinity Church.
