Stephanie L. Allen (nee von Glatz ) Passed away on Feb. 18th 2022 at the Evergreens with her family by her side at the age of 95. Her husband of 63 years Joseph “Pete “Allen predeceased her as had her son Peter Allen and brother Richard von Glatz. Born in Brooklyn, NY she lived with her family in Long Island. In 1937 the family moved to Barbados, West Indies, for her father’s health. She was a student at the Ursuline Convent Boarding School for eight years, and attended Mary Mount College, NY and Prairie Hall School for Medical Assistants. In 1950, after a month tour of Europe she took a job as a civilian secretary to the C.O. of a Military Post in Bavaria, West Germany, with the Army of occupation, where she met and married 1st Lt. Pete Allen. They returned to the States in 1952 where they settled in Moorestown, NJ. Mrs. Allen was active in the American Heart Assoc. Fund Drives, the PTA and Choir of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church of Moorestown. She served as a board member of the Family Counseling Services of Moorestown, and the Moorestown Field Club. In 1989 the moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina where she and her husband were volunteers at the Oconee County Hospital installing “Life Lives” for the elderly in remote areas. She was an active member of the Ladies Tennis Assoc. and choir member at St. Paul the Apostle, RC Church. She joined a 90 member chorus called the Key Koraliers and was also a member of the Blue Ridge Art Society. While at the Evergreens Mrs. Allen chaired the Dinning Services Committee and the Health services Committee. Her pet project was the yearly Christmas Program. She established and directed the Evergreens Chorus for 19 years and was stage director for the residents Christmas Plays. She is survived by her daughters Libby (Chris) Cathcart, Mary Allen, Stephanie (Mike) Macrae and Anne Nicholson, and grandchildren Paige and James Macrae and Peter and Christopher Nicholson. Private interment Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
