April 1, 2021
Our beloved Virginia E. Fontana peacefully passed away during Holy Week on April 1st, 2021 with her family by her side. Virginia, or Eleanor as some called her, lived a long beautiful life; growing up in Philadelphia and later starting a family and moving to South Jersey, where she called Mount Laurel home for the last 60+ years. Leaving us just a few months shy of turning 90, she was the longest living and last of the matriarchs of the Heckman family, one of eight siblings. Her happiest moments were sharing time with her family and friends who filled her heart with such joy. Loving wife to the late John Fontana and adoring companion to the late Lawrence Salvatore. Survived by daughters Theresa Hovnanian, her husband Peter, and Sandi Fontana. Nana to Janeen Hovnanian Lugo her husband David, Tanya Hovnanian and the late Michael Mancini. A true storyteller, weaving her childhood and young adult memories into life lessons. She taught us all the importance of faith and spirituality. She will be missed greatly by her surviving family and friends. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30am on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W.
