John Donald Wetherill

Don Wetherill, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and successful business owner, passed away on July 16, 2023, in Moorestown, NJ. He was born on July 8, 1932, in Doylestown, PA, to his parents, Evelyn and Scott Wetherill. Don was a kind and loving husband and father. He dedicated his life to his family and his successful business, Wetherill's True Value Home Center & Lumber Yard, in Edgewater Park, NJ. Don opened the store in 1961 and successfully operated it until his retirement in 1998, when he sold the business. In addition to his business endeavors, Don served his country as a proud member of the United States Air Force for four years. He was a graduate of Bristol High School and also earned a degree at Rider University, after his service in the Air Force. Don had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, wood working, and wood carving. But above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, where he found solace and community. His faith was important to him, and he found comfort in his religious beliefs. Don is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his children, Kathy Mahony (Dennis), Judi Welch (Marty), and Doug Wetherill (Wendy). He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Violette, his mother, Evelyn, his father, Scott, his sister, Bobby, his brother, Pete, and his grandson Sean. In addition he is survived by his grandchildren, Brad Welch (Amy), Michael Welch (Jenn), Caitlin Mahony (Cory) Patrick Wetherill (Cara) and Eric Wetherill, along with his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, Josh, Lily and Lucas. Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, love, and dedication will forever be remembered and cherished. A ceremony to celebrate Don's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Moorestown, NJ, on Monday July 24th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown,101 Bridgeboro Rd. Moorestown, NJ 08057 in Don's memory.
