Dr. Louis J Petrie

Dr. Louis Joseph Petrie, 87, passed away on March 23, 2026. Born on November 12, 1938, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his patients, and the community he served so faithfully. Lou grew up in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. He attended Valley Forge Military Academy, then went on to the University of Pennsylvania for college before earning his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Pennsylvania General Hospital and his anesthesiology residency at Cherry Hill Hospital. He went on to build a distinguished career as an anesthesiologist and pain management physician, eventually serving as Chief of Anesthesia at Washington Township Hospital. He was respected for his leadership skills and commitment to caring for others. Lou was proud of his Italian heritage, which remained an important part of his identity throughout his life. Outside of medicine, he enjoyed racing horses through his T-Bird Stables, playing golf, and had a deep appreciation for military history, especially the Navy SEALs. Generous in spirit, he also supported numerous organizations and causes that were meaningful to him. Those who knew Lou will remember him as kind, generous, and a man of strong convictions who cared deeply for the people he loved. Above all, he treasured his family. Lou is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Petrie; his daughter, Elizabeth Petrie and her husband (Patrick Cates); his grandchildren, Tyler Radack and Lauren Radack; and many, many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched as a physician, in the generosity he showed to others, and in the love he gave so freely to his family. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 27th at 10:15 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 2500 Branch Pike Cinnaminson, NJ 08077 A visitation will be held on Thursday Eve from 6- 8 pm at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St. Moorestown, NJ 08057. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
